Jacob’s Well

Where Every Woman Finds What She Came For.

There is something profoundly biblical about a well. It is the place people come to when their reserves are low, not to be lectured, not to perform, but simply to receive. Jacob’s Well is Women of Excellence’s answer to that ancient human need. It is a space of practical, dignified care for women and families who are navigating hardship, uncertainty, or crisis, and who deserve to be met with warmth, not process.

Jacob’s Well is not a charity counter. It is not a waiting room with a number. It is an expression of the movement’s deepest conviction: that faith which does not reach into the material needs of people is incomplete. Here, the spiritual and the practical are not separated. Every act of care is also an act of welcome.

WHO IT IS FOR

Jacob’s Well serves women and families facing a wide range of need, from acute crisis to quiet, sustained hardship that others may not see. It is for the mother who cannot stretch the budget far enough. For the woman newly arrived in a city with no network. For the family navigating illness, job loss, or domestic disruption. For anyone who needs something tangible and finds the usual doors too formal, too complicated, or too far away.

CORE EXPRESSION

  • Essential provision, delivered with care. Clothing, food, hygiene supplies, and household goods are made available — not distributed like rations, but offered with the intention that every woman leaves feeling respected and whole.
  • A genuinely welcoming environment. The physical and relational atmosphere of Jacob’s Well is designed to communicate safety. Volunteers are trained not just in logistics but in how to be present — how to listen without fixing, how to serve without condescending.
  • Practical navigation support. Many women who arrive at Jacob’s Well need more than immediate provision. We help them find their way to housing support, healthcare, legal assistance, and other services — through trusted referral relationships built over time.
  • Care for children and families, not just individuals. We recognise that a woman in need rarely comes alone. The wellbeing of her children and dependants is part of how we think about every interaction.
  • Confidentiality and dignity at every step. No woman’s story is shared without her permission. No need is used as a data point. The privacy and dignity of every person we serve is treated as non-negotiable.
  • A community connection point. For many women, Jacob’s Well becomes a first point of contact with the wider Women of Excellence community — the beginning of a longer journey of belonging, support, and growth.
  • Volunteer-led, movement-sustained. Jacob’s Well runs because women within the movement choose to show up. Volunteers are equipped, supported, and valued — because care for those who give is inseparable from care for those who receive.
