Leadership Development

Leadership Is Not a Gift You Either Have or Don’t. It Is a Capacity You Develop, deliberately.

There is something profoundly biblical about a well. It is the place people come to when their reserves are low, not to be lectured, not to perform, but simply to receive. Jacob’s Well is Women of Excellence’s answer to that ancient human need. It is a space of practical, dignified care for women and families who are navigating hardship, uncertainty, or crisis, and who deserve to be met with warmth, not process.

Leadership is understood here in its fullest sense. It is not only formal authority or organisational hierarchy. It is the capacity to influence, to serve, to call out what is best in others, and to bear the weight of responsibility with grace. It is as relevant for the woman leading her household as it is for the one leading a national organisation. The programme meets women wherever their sphere of influence currently lies, and it extends that sphere.

WHO IT IS FOR

This programme is for women at every stage of leadership emergence,  from those who are just beginning to understand their capacity, to those who are leading well but without adequate support or formation. It is especially designed for women who are serious about growth and willing to commit to a process that asks something of them. Curiosity and commitment are the only prerequisites.

CORE EXPRESSION

  • A multi-phase development curriculum built for depth, not breadth. The programme moves through sequenced phases: self-awareness and identity, understanding of calling and context, leadership theory and practice, and finally sustainable leadership in real-world application. Each builds on the last, and nothing is skipped.
  • Identity as the foundation of every leadership skill. Before we teach communication or strategy, we attend to the question of who a woman is and who she is becoming. Leaders who do not know themselves cause harm, however well-intentioned. Identity work is not optional; it is the curriculum.
  • Practical skill development grounded in real application. Communication under pressure, conflict resolution, decision-making in uncertainty, delegation and team development, vision articulation, these are taught not as theory but as practice, with real feedback from real peers and mentors.
  • Faith as a leadership framework, not a footnote. This programme takes seriously the idea that a woman’s understanding of God and her relationship with him directly shapes how she leads. Theological reflection on calling, power, service, and authority is woven throughout, not added at the end.
  • A cohort that becomes a community for life. Women are developed in cohorts, small enough for genuine relationship, diverse enough for genuine challenge. The friendships and accountabilities formed in a cohort routinely outlast the programme itself.
  • Mentorship from leaders who have paid the price of experience. Every participant is matched with a mentor from within the movement’s senior leadership community. These are women who have led through difficulty, made consequential decisions, and have genuine wisdom to offer, not just encouragement.
  • Graduation into movement leadership. The programme has clear progression pathways. Graduates are not sent out with a certificate and a wave. They are absorbed into the leadership ecosystem of Women of Excellence, given responsibility, accountability, and continued investment.
HOW TO ENGAGE

Apply. Commit. Grow.

The Leadership Development programme runs in annual cohorts, with limited places per intake. We keep the numbers small because the quality of the experience depends on it. If you are considering applying, we encourage you to do so, and to do so now.
